International Storytelling Center

The International Storytelling Center (ISC), nestled in the historic town of Jonesborough, Tennessee, is a premier institution dedicated to the art and tradition of storytelling. Known as the world's storytelling capital, Jonesborough has been at the forefront of the storytelling renaissance, hosting the renowned National Storytelling Festival annually since 1973, which draws visitors from all over to experience the magic of storytelling​​​​.

The ISC is situated in downtown Jonesborough and includes facilities such as the Mary B. Martin Storytelling Hall, which houses performance spaces, exhibits, and the ISC gift shop. The center is involved in various programs and initiatives, focusing on using storytelling to foster positive change, educate, and entertain​​​​.

From May to October, ISC hosts Storytelling Live!, a concert series featuring different storytellers each week. Additionally, the National Storytelling Festival occurs the first weekend of October, offering a rich tapestry of narratives from diverse storytellers​​​​.

For those unable to visit in person, ISC offers a virtual tour, providing a glimpse into its unique world. The center also boasts a gift shop with a variety of storytelling-related products, from books and CDs to unique handmade items.
